At Serendipity Events, we love creating unique and unforgettable parties to celebrate life’s special occasions! With the Coronation of King Charles III and a fabulous bank holiday just around the corner, here are some fun ideas and tips for throwing the ultimate Coronation Party.

Types of Celebration

Get together with your loved ones for a special tea party at home, branch out and invite friends and family to a marvellous garden party or get your whole community together for an epic street party!

TIP: don't forget your council may require a license for street parties, be sure to check with plenty of notice.

TIP: consider the good ole British weather in any plans ensuring you have a contingency plan for wet weather.

Decorations

First and foremost, the decor at your coronation party should be fit for royalty! From table cloths and table runners to bunting and flags, use colours that are traditionally associated with royalty, such as gold, white, red and dark blue in-keeping with the Union Jack! Use floral arrangements with big and bold British flowers such as roses and hydrangeas to create a regal garden party look. Hire a stylist to create the ultimate party backdrop with matching balloon decor and photo props.

Tableware

As will most party decor your tablescape is a key element of your styling, go bold with vintage English crockery and mix-match elements for an Alice in Wonderland style twist on the traditional English tea party.

TIP: For party favours you could give guests crowns and tiaras to really get into the royal spirit!

Food

No coronation party would be complete without a feast! Consider a buffet-style setup with an array of decadent dishes. You could serve traditional English food such as roast beef, shepherd's pie, fish and chips & even coronation chicken! And don’t forget a glorious afternoon tea complete with cucumber sandwiches, scones, cream, jams, Victoria sponge cakes and other English classics like Bakewell tarts and fondant fancies!

Drinks

We British like a good drink, from royal themed cocktail classics like Buck’s Fizz to Bramble’s and summer staples such as Pimms and Gin & Tonic, you’ll want a well stocked bar to keep you going through the bank holiday weekend!

TIP: Don’t forget a non-alcoholic option for those driving and non-drinkers.

Activities

Traditional garden games are a great shout for all ages inspiring friendly competition across croquet, cricket, boules and skittles, these can be punched or hired in easily. You could also create a classic English sports day with tug-of-war, sack race and three legged race and everyones favourite the egg and spoon! Classic card games and family favourites like Trivial Pursuit, Charades and royal-themed Heads-Up are also ideal as the evening draws later. Why not finish the night with a spectacular fireworks display!

TIP: Don’t forget to put on a Best of British playlist, Spotify has some great options you can use or make one yourself to suit your music taste.

However you choose to celebrate, have an amazing bank holiday weekend!
